Gist Is took reflections from the shards of new weird America at the start of the 2010s - Grizzly Bear, AnCo, Dirty Projectors - and played it through the band's own anxieties and uncertainties. What followed was a world of curiosities, mercurial melodies between folk, plainsong, pop and jazz, at once beguiling and uninhibited. A soft critical acclaim followed, finding fans too in Bjork and David Byrne.
