BK is back and he's not the same. Who could be after the heartbreak he's endured since the sudden passing of his 16-year old son, Dorian Zev. Instead of hiding away, the beloved indie-rocker is walking through the fire of grief with intention and purpose. Kweller recently announced the highly anticipated album, Cover The Mirrors, which will be released on Dorian's 19th birthday - May 30th. "This is the most personal, emotionally raw project I've ever worked on," Kweller says. Cover The Mirrors was recorded at NoiseCo Studio in Dripping Springs, TX with BK tour mates, Chris Mintz-Plasse (bass) and Ryan Dean (drums). The 12-song album features guest performances by fellow indie darlings Waxahatchee and MJ Lenderman - "Dollar Store" and "Oh Dorian" respectively. The song "Depression" marks a resurfacing of Jason Schwartzman's highly acclaimed mid-aughts musical project Coconut Records, and the track "Killer Bee" features psych-legends, The Flaming Lips.
Ben Kweller has been an open book throughout his illustrious career. His songs hold a nostalgic quality that takes you to a time and a place, happy or sad. He's also one of the rare few who can translate his recordings into captivating concerts and will begin the Cover The Mirrors Tour in Atlanta, GA on April 15th. Despite all of the heartache and sadness surrounding this story, Kweller's open-eyed honesty about grief and loss has been an inspiration to people around the world. His new musical chapter is a chance for all of them to witness one of the great songwriters at their creative peak.
