UPC: 5065023242153 Delicious Patricia are a trio who dig and play the combined Instrumental, Surf and Garage sound of yesteryear, often introducing it to the sound of today, and tomorrow too! Delicious Patricia was the fevered dream brainchild of drummer Rob Smith, who, after years of playing in rock covers bands got an appetite for something else; a surf band! An ad found Simon Trundle (previously The Palominos) for shred guitar, and Tony O'Rourke (previously The Strookas) on bottom end bass. Mordros - Cornish for 'the sound of the surf' is the debut album. It features fifteen tracks, seven of which are originals written by the band, with six covers with a twist. Side One kicks off with 'Penetration' (The Pyramids) leading you on to 'Surfgasm' one of the bands own tunes. Some cleverly arranged TV and film theme covers follow with a version of label stablemate, Billy Childish's 'Poka Hontas' (featuring The Del Pats on vocals), sandwiched in between. Onto another of the band's own tunes 'Crashing Wave' before a nice bit of Dutch surf in the form of Focus' 'Hocus Pocus', ending with the mellow beach sounds of 'Moe-uhana', Hawaiian for soul sleep. Side Two kicks off with sirens, shouting and warnings of getting 'Caught In A Rip', another of Delicious Patricia's own work. Surf's up with a cover of the 'White Horses' theme, the boys give us their version of Kraftwerk's 'The Model'. The band then hit you with two of their own, telling us that 'Patricia Don't Surf' and it's also 'Patricia's Last Wave'. There is a wiener in-between those two majestic buns, with a cool cover of The Astronauts' 'Hot Doggin'. The album then reaches its climax with a tune honouring Newquay's most famous wave 'The Cribbar'.
