He began his musical career in the Netherlands as band member of Beehive (1973-1974) and Rainbow Train (1975-1979). Rendez-Vous, his second solo album, released in 1977 and produced by Hans Vermeulen from Rainbow Train, can be characterized by its mellow melodies and sophisticated arrangements, often blending elements of jazz, pop, and rhythm and blues. The album has a distinctive late Seventies soft rock and jazz fusion vibe and feels like a celebration of romantic escapism and lyrical storytelling. Each track is crafted with intricate harmonies and lush arrangements that together with Erik Tagg's soulful voice evokes a sense of nostalgia and warmth. Although the album did not achieve massive commercial success or mainstream chart-topping status, ''Rendez-Vous'' garnered a dedicated following and critical acclaim within niche music circles.
