Catalog Number: VILELP1192 Color: Black Format: LP UPC: 801056819277 Formed in 1993 and hailing from Monaco, Godkiller was the vision of multi- instrumentalist and sole founding member, Duke Satanael, who between 1996 and 2000 released an EP and 2 studio albums under the Godkiller name, commencing with the black metal cult classic debut The Rebirth Of The Middle Ages. Though initially more a death metal inspired act in the formative years, Godkiller quickly developed into a project fully engulfed in the spirit of 1990's black metal, bringing to mind acts like Emperor and Satyricon for the implementation of such strong atmospherics, though on later releases Godkiller incorporated more industrial & electronic elements into the compositions as part of its creative evolution. The End Of The World was launched in 1998 following a great reception to The Rebirth Of The Middle Ages and though the dark, often philosophical themes and strong atmospherics remained, the album already marked a clear progression in the songwriting department, with effective, often hook- laden tracks and more immediate riffing permeating the release, amid the implementation of a number of more experimental ideas helping to assert the overall individuality of the opus. The edition of The End Of The World is presented on the CD format for the first time since its original 1998 release, including booklet with full lyrics and with the tracks remastered by Duke himself.
