Released in 1996, Free to Move marks the peak of Israel Vibration's career. In France alone, the CD sold 40,000 copies within a few months, accompanied by a tour of around 30 dates across the country, including a three-night run in Paris at the Elysee Montmartre, the reggae temple of the time.
They landed the cover of L'Affiche magazine (then edited by Olivier Cachin) and made a highly notable live appearance on Nulle Part Ailleurs on Canal+ as the musical guest. At that moment, the band was considered the breakout reggae act.
This reissue is a major event, as the CD hasn't been available since 2004 and, more importantly, the vinyl hasn't been available since its original release in 1996. At the time, the label pressed the 12-track album onto a single LP, with over 30 minutes per side, which resulted in poor sound quality for this masterpiece.
Today, the label have gone back to the original tapes to properly remaster this classic, with only three tracks per side to restore the full strength of the mix and ensure optimal listening quality. The album is reissued as a 180g double LP with a 350g glossy UV sleeve, restoring the full prestige of this landmark release in the band's career.
