Desmond had a long history of recording with the guitarist, but this was Hall and Baker's first out of just two recorded encounters. Concierto received a **** 1/2 rating on AllMusic, with reviewer Anthony Tognazzini stating that it "ranks among the best albums of Hall's superb catalogue and the personnel is a jazz lover's dream come true."
