Frankfurt based singer/songwriter with her debut EP for Jakarta
sublabel Asmara produced by Marvin Horsch (Gianno Brezzo) for fans
of Genevieve Stokes, Arlo Parks & Clairo.
Julie Kuhl, born in 2005 in Chatillon-sur-Seine in France, is a young singersongwriter
from Frankfurt a.M who has been making a name for herself over the
past two years. Julie started singing in choirs, learning instruments (guitar, piano,
viola) and writing her first songs when she was just a little girl. At the age of 15, her
first single was released, followed shortly after by her debut album 'flowers &
candles'. In 2022 - at the age of 17 - Julie's second album 'Born With Nostalgic
Bones' was released on the Frankfurt jazz label 'Jazz Montez Records'.
Chris Douridas, music director of the Californian radio station KCRW, is already one
of her fans. After countless performances in Frankfurt, some on big stages (such as
the opening ceremony of the European Championships in Frankfurt or the Holidays
Festival), and some in small venues, she is now collaborating with the Colognebased
musician Gianni Brezzo (Marvin Horsch), who has produced 5 songs with
her in the style of Genevieve Stokes, Arlo Parks & Clairo.
The indie pop anthem DAMAGE expresses the pain of youth and its dark
challenges from her own perspective, with powerful piano production allowing
Julie's classically trained vocals to shine.
Julie: 'It's about someone you want to break away from and the conflict within
yourself, because you still have a lot of love for the person but at the same time
know that they are not good for you. A present topic is also the desperation about
the fact that the person shows no insight and is not at all aware of their actions."
The EP CLOUDS OF GRIEF will be released on 01.11.2024 on the "Jakarta
Records" sublabel "ASMARA RECORDS" (Woman & XulZolar). In Japan, the EP
will be released on P-Vine Records. Brain Marrow is handling PR (including radio)
in the UK, while Achim Launert is supplying radio stations in German-speaking
countries. The release will be accompanied by a digital marketing campaign
(conversion) on Instagram
