Dark Smoke Mistress. Catalog Number: BWZ800lp-C1 Color: Purple Format: LP UPC: 850063560078 Backwoodz Studioz is excited to announce a new album from Kenny Segal and K-the-I???. Genuine Dexterity is not only the title of the record but also a fitting description of their combined artistic skills. Kenny's well-established ability to tailor his production to each project perfectly complements K-the-I???'s acrobatic rhymes, which make even the densest lyrics feel effortless. Together, they've crafted an album that leaps over genre boundaries, delivering a bold and immersive listening experience. "Genuine Dexterity is an album made to display my many facets--my mood, growth, and the adventures that shape my present-day outlook," K-the-I??? explains. "It's about letting everything come naturally and never forcing creativity. It's also about reflecting on the universe's direction, whether I like it or not." Rapper/producer Kiki Ceac, known as K-the-I???, was a key figure in the mid-2000s experimental hip-hop wave that paved the way for much of today's alternative rap. Originally from Cambridge, Massachusetts, Kiki relocated to Los Angeles around the same time fellow East Coast transplant Kenny Segal was gaining recognition in the Project Blowed scene. Despite crossing paths for years, their first collaboration didn't happen until Genuine Dexterity, which came together after Kiki returned to the East Coast. "Sometimes a vocalist sparks a whole wave of creativity in me, and that's what happened with Kiki," Segal says. "Last year, I sent him two beats for a different project. When he sent back the songs, it was clear we had something special and needed to do more." Featuring appearances from Armand Hammer, Open Mike Eagle, ShrapKnel, Fatboi Sharif, Self Jupiter, and Jesse the Tree, the album firmly centers K-the-I??? as its star. A decade has passed since Kiki's last release, but he returns in top form. Always an unconventional lyricist, Kiki's style has grown in his time away. "Maybe I'm calmer now--I don't feel the need to ALWAYS shout like I used to. My vocabulary has grown, and my flow is more polished," he reflects. Despite these changes, his writing remains as intricate as ever. Meanwhile, Kenny Segal's finely tuned production takes Kiki's artistry to unexplored sonic territory. Segal's beats provide the perfect pockets for Kiki to flex his craft, creating a dynamic synergy that defines the album. Genuine Dexterity, indeed.
