Picture Disc. Catalog Number: TNHLP018 Format: LP UPC: 5039060331576 Denver-based DJ and producer Lane 8 announces his fifth studio album 'Childish', out September 27th on This Never Happened. The 'Childish' concept is about the innocence and purity of creativity we have as children - but often lose as adults. This concept of youthful creativity was portrayed around both the creation and the release of this album. Looking back at his childhood, some of Lane 8's happiest core memories involved digging through albums at the local record store, and buying CDs and records based on feel before racing home to listen through to them cover to cover. Releasing 'Childish' all at once is a return to the excitement of having an entire album of completely fresh material to dive into - and hopefully, get lost in. 'Childish' features the tracks 'Say The Word' and 'The Choice' with regular collaborator Arctic Lake. Arctic Lake are recognised for their collaboration on Lane 8's largest streamed track to date, 'Road', and several others since they first came together with Lane 8 in 2019. Other returning collaborators include This Never Happened mainstay Sultan + Shepard ('The Little Mushroom That Got Away') with 'Quiet Rush' and Anjunabeats' powerhouse Kasablanca ('Run' and 'Remission') with 'You'. Art School Girlfriend, a UK producer, multi-instrumentalist, and vocalist, collaborates with Lane 8 for the first time on the album's focus track, 'The Deep'. Although Tailor, also a UK producer, multi-instrumentalist, and vocalist, has been releasing music on This Never Happened since 2021, this is his first collaboration with label-head Lane 8, pairing up for the track 'Wake Up'. In addition to the album containing home recordings repurposed into layers of songs, Lane 8's seven-year-old daughter designed the album packshot and inner vinyl gatefold spread. 'Childish' encompasses these "little mini memories" of Lane 8's, bringing a unique intimacy to the album.
