Catalog Number: PREFECTLP008 Color: Blue Format: LP Sophomore album from Hartlepool band Mt.Misery sees them eschew the melancholia of their debut release for short shimmering pop songs. Released on the belligerently low-key Prefect Records run by a former member of The Field Mice, the album was mixed by Ian Catt, long-time producer of that band and its various splinter groups. Given that, there is unsurprisingly a nod to the sound of Sarah Records, but the record also wears it's Teenage Fanclub and Big Star influences heavily on its sleeve. The band claim the album was primarily influenced by a request from their label for shorter up- tempo songs, and them getting a distortion pedal for Christmas 2022. In truth the album is a homage to turning twenty, driving about in your first car, and falling in and out of love in a working class seaside town where nothing much happens.
