Named after their joint passion for savage heavy metal and wildlife preservation, Savage Lands was founded in 2022 by Megadeath drummer Dirk Verbeuren and musician-turned-activist Sylvain Demercaste, who's a Costa Rica resident. Savage Lands raises money for reforestation. Using their own royalties, donations and other fundraising efforts, the organization builds nature sanctuaries, establishes green zones and other land preservation projects. The work Verbeuren and Sylvain are doing to protect the environment has inspired other metalheads to get involved, including members of Gojira, Lamb of God, Lord of the Lost and Heilung. With so many talented musicians coming together, they were bound to come up with a heavy, hard-hitting song.
