It follows her 2020 debut, Cult Survivor, and 2022's Harlequin. The album paints a bold portrait of how it is to be a female artist today - amid capitalist trappings, existential uncertainties, and constant feeling that you're out of step with other people your age. Royer borrowed the term "Young-Girl" from Preliminary Materials for the Theory of a Young-Girl, originally published in French anarchist journal Tiqqun.
