The movie received widespread critical acclaim, was a major success at the box office, and received numerous awards. In total, Forrest Gump won six Oscars, three Golden Globe Awards, and two Saturn Awards. In December 2011, the movie was selected for preservation in the Library of Congress’ National Film Registry, as being “culturally, historically, or aesthetically significant.” Its Original Motion Picture Score is composed and conducted by Alan Silvestri, which was nominated for Best Original Score.
