Yasmine Hamdan's I remember I forget bns~ wbtdhkr , is a powerful reflection on memory and identity, blending personal and global themes with evocative storytelling. Building on her previous albums Ya Nass and Al Jamilat, Hamdan draws deeply on her Lebanese roots and global influences. The album explores the tragedies of Lebanon, particularly the 2020 Beirut explosion and the ongoing economic crisis, and transforms these events into universal metaphors for resilience and hope. Over the past decade, Yasmine Hamdan has earned international acclaim as a solo singer-songwriter and producer, elegantly entwining far-ranging elements, from pan-Arabic roots and pop and poetic lyrics, to electronica, soul and guitar melodies. She has collaborated with global filmmakers including Elia Suleiman, Jim Jarmusch (memorably singing onscreen in the 2013 movie Only Lovers Left Alive), Daniele Arbid, and Ghassan Salhab. She performed with major group projects including Africa Express and appeared on NPR Tiny Desk and Later...with Jools Holland.
